संग्रह 31-40

The verses

1. दान दिए धन ना घटे , नदी ने घटे नीर। अपनी आँखों देख लो , यों क्या कहे कबीर॥

   Meaning: Giving charity does not diminish wealth; the river does not decrease its water. Look into your own eyes, what are you saying, Kabir?

2. दस द्वारे का पिंजरा , तामे पंछी का कौन। रहे को अचरज है , गए अचम्भा कौन॥

   Meaning: A cage with ten doors, whose bird is it? What wonder remains, what surprise has flown away?

3. ऐसी वाणी बोलेए , मन का आपा खोय। औरन को शीतल करे , आपहु शीतल होय॥

   Meaning: Speak such words, losing the self's ego, That cool the minds of others, and cool the self too.

4. हीरा वहाँ न खोलिये , जहाँ कुंजड़ों की हाट। बांधो चुप की पोटरी , लागहु अपनी बाट॥

   Meaning: Do not open a heart there, where the market of monkeys gathers. Tie the bundle of silence, and let your own path be sure.

5. कुटिल वचन सबसे बुरा , जारि कर तन हार। साधु वचन जल रूप , बरसे अमृत धार॥

   Meaning: Deceitful words are the worst, they cause the body to fall. The words of a saint are like water, raining down with the nectar's flow.
