The verses

1. ફકીરીમાં સખિરી મેં, ભરી આજે મજા કેવી? અમીરીને ફકીરીમાં, મળી આજે રજા કેવી? ૧

   Meaning: O friend, what joy I've filled today, within my state of fakir-hood!What sweet release has wealth found today, in this very fakir-hood!

2. કદી છે શાલ દુશાલા, કદી લંગોટ ને માલા, કદી હો ઝેરના પ્યાલા, મળે તેવી મજા લેવી. ૭

   Meaning: At times a shawl, at times rich dress,At times a loincloth, beads of grace,At times a cup of poison's stress,Enjoy whatever life doth place.

3. અમીરીની મજા મીઠી, ફકીરીમાં અમે દીઠી, ન કરવી ચાકરી ચીઠી સ્પૃહાને જ્યાં રજા દેવી. ૧ર

   Meaning: We found the sweet pleasure of affluence in mendicancy;Where aspirations are dismissed, no note of servitude should be heeded.

4. થયાં જ્યાં એક ઈશ્વરથી, પછી શી ગાંઠ ઘરઘરથી, જગાવ્યે પ્રેમ પરવરથી, શલાકા સ્નેહની સેવી. ૧૩

   Meaning: When all from one God took their start, what separate knots can houses impart?Awakening love from the Divine, I nurtured affection's torch, to shine.
