નીર હતું તે કીચમાં ગયું

The verses

1. નીર હતું તે કીચમાં ગયું આત્મથકી તે અળગું રહ્યું;

   Meaning: The water, once pure, into the mire did stray,Yet from its own essence, it kept its distinct way.

2. છે તો ઘણો નવ દીસે ચંદ કહે અખો માયાનો ફં દ.

   Meaning: Though great it is, the moon remains unseen;Akho declares, 'This is Maya's deceptive screen.'

3. ભૂતભવિષ્ય ને અજપાજપ અખો નહિ તો શેનો થાપ.

   Meaning: Past and future, and the silent chant, If Akho is not, what foundation can it grant?

4. વષ્ણવ ભેખ ધારીને ફરે પરસાદ ટાણે પત્રાવળાં ભરે;

   Meaning: He roams around, a Vaishnava's garb he wears,And at Prasad's time, leaf plates he fills.
