Devoted to a beloved of charming, graceful ways am I, a martyr to the rose-robed beauty beneath whose spell I lie.
I am devoted to a charming and graceful beloved, and I am a martyr to the beautiful beloved who wears a rose-colored robe.
2
I have no desire to meet each moon-faced fair; I am a companion only to one who knows the art of verse.
I have no desire to meet every moon-faced beauty; I am only an associate of someone who understands poetry.
3
I have forsaken the spectacle of the narcissus; A seeker of a modest, bashful glance am I.
I have abandoned watching the spectacle of the narcissus flower, as I now seek a modest and bashful glance.
4
Praise not the graceful box-tree before me, for I am captivated by that cypress-statured beloved.
Do not praise the graceful box-tree in front of me, for I am captivated by that beloved who possesses a cypress-like stature.
5
To that sun-faced beauty, I made my humble plea: You are the monarch of beauty, and a beggar unto you am I.
I pleaded to that sun-faced beloved, saying that you are the emperor of beauty and I am a beggar at your door.
6
I forever cherish a longing for their speech; ever thirsty am I for the elixir of eternal life.
I always yearn to hear the words of my beloved, remaining perpetually thirsty for the water of eternal life.
7
Forever at her feet I rest my head; / O Wali, I share the creed of henna's hue.
I always place my head at the beloved's feet; O Wali, I share the same disposition as the color of henna, which always stays attached to the feet.
