O Lord, boundless is the grace You have showered upon me; an abode of devotion, a human form rare even to the gods, You granted out of sheer mercy.
O Lord, You have showered immense grace upon me. Out of Your mercy, You have granted me this human body, which is the abode of spiritual practice and rare even for the gods.

Though myriad tongues could not recount each grace of Thine divine, / Yet still I beg for something more, most gracious Lord of mine.
Even with millions of mouths, every single favor of the Lord cannot be recounted; nonetheless, O most generous Lord, I ask for something more, please bestow it upon me.

Never for a moment does the fish of the mind part from desire's stream, / Hence it suffers direst sorrows, reborn endlessly through life's cruel dream.
The fish of the mind does not separate itself from the waters of worldly desires even for a single moment. Because of this, it has to endure severe suffering, repeatedly taking birth in countless life-forms.

With the thread of grace, the hook of Your holy feet, and supreme love as tender bait, pierce through my heart and take away my sorrow—for O Rama, it is merely child's play to You.
O Rama, with the thread of your grace, the hook of your feet, and the tender bait of supreme love, pierce my heart and take away my sorrow, for this is merely playful sport for you.

All paths are taught by sacred scripture, yet which god can the humble implore? Says Tulsidas, the cord of delusion—only He who tied it can free the soul once more.
All means of liberation are revealed in the scriptures, yet which deity should this humble being entreat? Tulsidas says that the rope of worldly attachment that binds this soul can only be untied by the One who tied it.
