Since what evening did a pain arise in my heart,
I have fallen into a sleep, colder than pre-dawn's chill.
Since what evening did a pain arise in my heart, I have fallen into a sleep, colder than pre-dawn's chill.

I sit, covered in the dust of my own frailty, or else,
I wander in the streets, like a stray, dusty wanderer.
I either sit covered in the dust of my own frailty, or else I wander through the streets like a stray, dusty wanderer.

After all, everyone undertook the path of love, but none were like that divine, enchanting one.
After the era of Qais, everyone took the path of love, but none were like that divine, enchanting one.

Oh, the intoxication of the absence of your beloved, in what moment is it not present? My beloved is like a lover who is not born.
Oh, the intoxication of your absence, in what moment is it not present? My beloved is like a lover who was never born.

Is this the 'Mir' who once stood at your door,
With eyes like a tear, dry lips, and a pale yellow hue?
