Was there a beloved canal, was there a beloved bird?
Was there a beloved canal, was there a beloved bird?

The patience for your cruelty was only available
To someone who held you dear.
The strength to endure your cruelty was reserved only for someone who held you dear.

In his heart, he carried memories of his beloved,
For in the house, there was a cherished guest.
In his heart, he carried the thought of her/him, for there was a beloved guest in the house.
4
Zulekha's beauty was not wasted,
There was a beloved like the moon in Kanwa.
Zulekha's beauty was not wasted; there was a beloved like the moon in Kanwa.

Now, in his street, there is a thorn, O Mir,
How could I lose someone so dear?
Now, there is a thorn in his street, O Mir, how could I lose someone so dear?
