Those who arrive will fall asleep, whether they are a king, a pauper, or a fakir. One will ascend a throne, and one will be bound with chains.

Kabir suggests that everyone who arrives in this life will eventually pass away, regardless of their status—be they king, pauper, or fakir. This world is depicted as a temporary stage where actions dictate the outcome. Some will attain the height of power and glory (the throne), while others will face restraint and bondage (the chains). Through this couplet, Kabir guides us to look beyond material power and worldly attachments toward a deeper, spiritual truth.
