Tabi.at In Dinon Begana-e-gham Hoti Jaati Hai
This ghazal explores a profound emotional numbness where the heart becomes alienated even from grief itself. It conveys a poignant melancholy, reflecting how fleeting joys paradoxically transform into reasons for mourning amid an exhausted, resigned spirit.

These days, my heart grows a stranger to sorrow's sway, / As though each joy allotted to my share is slipping away.
These days my heart is becoming a stranger to sorrow, as if every bit of happiness meant for me is gradually fading away.

Dawn draws near, and awakening stirs within the dew;
Joy itself turns into a cause for mourning, too.
Morning is about to arrive and the dew is awakening, while happiness is turning into one of the causes of mourning.

What strange calamity is this unfolding, O beauty of both worlds, that while the gathering remains the same, its charm slowly fades away?
O beauty of both worlds, what calamity is this unfolding, that while the gathering remains the same, its charm keeps diminishing?

The tavern and wine remain the same, the goblet and the glass / Yet the joyous calls of 'drink, drink on!' slowly fade and pass.
The tavern, the wine, the goblet, and the flask remain the same as before, but the cheers and sounds of drinking are gradually fading away.

The beloved and the cupbearer are the same, yet the heart flickers out; the candle is the very same, yet its light slowly wanes.
The beloved and the cupbearer are the same, yet the heart continues to sink; the candle is the very same, yet its light keeps fading.
6
The same tumult stirs within, yet like a wave submerged deep below; the very same heart it remains, though its voice grows faint and low.
The same inner turmoil persists, but like a wave submerged in the depths; it is the very same heart, yet its voice is growing increasingly faint.
7
Life remains the very same, yet O Jigar, such is my state: as though from life itself, life slowly drains away.
Life goes on as it always has, but O Jigar, my state is such that it feels as if life itself is gradually diminishing from within life.
