हम भी मज़मूँ की हवा बाँधते हैं

हम भी एक अपनी हवा बाँधते हैं

तेरी फ़ुर्सत के मुक़ाबिल ऐ उम्र
बर्क़ को पा-ब-हिना बाँधते हैं
O Life, against your leisure's fleeting spell,They bind the lightning by its feet as well.
O Life, in comparison to your moments of leisure, people bind lightning by its feet. This implies that life's time, even its free moments, is so fleeting that people attempt to control even something as fast as lightning.

क़ैद-ए-हस्ती से रिहाई मा'लूम
अश्क को बे-सर-ओ-पा बाँधते हैं
Freedom from existence's prison is known;Yet helpless, formless tears are bound.

ग़लती-हा-ए-मज़ामीं मत पूछ

मेरे हाथों को जुदा बाँधते हैं

शौक़ को पा-ब-हिना बाँधते हैं

तेरे बीमार पे हैं फ़रियादी
वो जो काग़ज़ में दवा बाँधते हैं
