Ghazal
Na Gul-e-naghma Hoon Na Parda-e-saazMain Hoon Apni Shikast Ki Aawaaz
न गुल-ए-नग़्मा हूँ न पर्दा-ए-साज़
This ghazal, "Na Gul-e Naghma Hoon Na Parda-e Saaz," is a profound self-reflection by the poet, who declares himself the voice of his own brokenness rather than a source of joy or music. It contrasts the beloved's captivating beauty with the poet's deep, far-reaching anxieties and speaks of hidden, heart-wrenching secrets beneath a facade of composure. Ultimately, the poet confesses to being willingly ensnared by love or fate, despite retaining the inherent power to transcend.

The speaker wishes for a day when they can openly express their pride towards the cruel beloved, replacing their current state of merely longing for dignity or the beloved's haughtiness.

No drop of blood within my heart remains,Which from my lashes hasn't played the flower's part.
Not a single drop of blood remains in my heart that hasn't caused my eyelashes to 'play the flower's part' (meaning, to become tear-laden and adorned like flowers from constant weeping).
