मुँद गईं खोलते ही खोलते आँखें 'ग़ालिब'

यार लाए मिरी बालीं पे उसे पर किस वक़्त
Straining to stay open, my eyes closed forever, Ghalib; / Friends brought my beloved to my bedside, but alas, at what an hour!
Ghalib says that struggling to remain open, his eyes finally closed forever. Friends did bring the beloved to his bedside, but alas, at a time when it was already too late.
