Mere Matlab Se Kya Gharaz Matlab — Dagh Dehlvi
Meaning
What concern do you have with my purpose? That is to say, you should state your own desire.
Explanation
This couplet plays brilliantly with conversational wit and the dual meaning of the word 'matlab'—used first as 'motive' or 'purpose,' and then as 'meaning' or 'that is to say.' Instead of revealing his own vulnerable feelings under the beloved's questioning, the poet gracefully turns the spotlight back onto them. It captures a charming moment of lovers' banter, where one deflects an inquiry just to urge the beloved to drop all pretense and speak from the heart.
