1. ज़ुल्फ़ जो रुख़ पर तिरे ऐ मेहर-ए-तलअत खुल गई हम को अपनी तीरा-रोज़ी की हक़ीक़त खुल गई

   अर्थ: When your dark tresses unfurled across your sun-bright face, O radiant one, the bleak truth of my own dark destiny was revealed to me.

2. तेरे आरिज़ पर हुआ आख़िर ग़ुबार-ए-ख़त नुमूद खुल गई आईना-रू दिल की कुदूरत खुल गई

   अर्थ: Upon your cheek at last the faint dust of youth's down has shown; O mirror-faced, the hidden murkiness within the heart is now made known.

3. बाँधी ज़ाहिद ने तवक्कुल पर कमर सौ बार चुस्त लेकिन आख़िर बाइस-ए-सुस्ती-ए-हिम्मत खुल गई

   अर्थ: A hundred times the ascetic firmly girt his loins in trust divine; yet at last, the cause of his flagging resolve unraveled and stood revealed.

4. खुलते खुलते रुक गए वो उन को तू ने ऐ 'ज़फ़र' सच कहो किस आँख से देखा कि चाहत खुल गई

   अर्थ: On the verge of opening up, they suddenly held back; tell me truly, O Zafar, with what gaze did you look upon them that love's secret was laid bare?
