1. शबनम ब-गुल-ए-लाला न ख़ाली ज़-अदा है दाग़-ए-दिल-ए-बेदर्द नज़र-गाह-ए-हया है

   अर्थ: The dew on the tulip is not free from its graceful guise,A mark on a callous heart is a sight for shame's eyes.

2. तिमसाल में तेरी है वो शोख़ी कि ब-सद-ज़ौक़ आईना ब-अंदाज़-ए-गुल आग़ोश-कुशा है

   अर्थ: Such charm and mischief in your image dwell,The mirror, with a hundred fond desires,Like a flower, its embrace it opens well.

3. ना-कर्दा गुनाहों की भी हसरत की मिले दाद या रब अगर इन कर्दा गुनाहों की सज़ा है

   अर्थ: O Lord, if for committed sins I face Your decree, then let the longing for uncommitted ones also find its due reward.

4. बेगानगी-ए-ख़ल्क़ से बे-दिल न हो 'ग़ालिब' कोई नहीं तेरा तो मिरी जान ख़ुदा है

   अर्थ: Ghalib, don't lose heart to the world's estrangement,If no one is yours, my dear, then God is.
