1. आईना देख अपना सा मुँह ले के रह गए साहब को दिल न देने पे कितना ग़ुरूर था

   अर्थ: A glance into the mirror left them humbled and crestfallen; how proud they once were of never surrendering their heart!

2. दर्स-ए-तपिश है बर्क़ को अब जिस के नाम से वो दिल है ये कि जिस का तख़ल्लुस सुबूर था

   अर्थ: Lightning now takes lessons in burning heat from its very name; this is that very heart whose pen-name once was patience.

3. शायद कि मर गया तिरे रुख़्सार देख कर पैमाना रात माह का लबरेज़-ए-नूर था

   अर्थ: Perhaps it perished upon catching sight of your radiant cheek; last night, the chalice of the moon brimmed over with light.

4. जन्नत है तेरी तेग़ के कुश्तों की मुंतज़िर जौहर सवाद-ए-जल्वा-ए-मिज़्गान-ए-हूर था

   अर्थ: Paradise eagerly awaits those slain by your sword; the luster on your steel was the shadow of the houris' eyelashes.
