हुआ हूँ गुंचा-ए-पज़मुर्दा आख़िर फ़स्ल का तुझ बिन
न दे बरबाद हसरत कुश्ता-ए-सर-दर-गरेबाँ को
— Mir Taqi Mir
Meaning
Having become a bundle of the defeated at the end of the season without you, do not give me the struggle (of life) in a foreign land.
Explanation
This profound couplet captures the agony of separation and the vulnerability of love. The poet says that without the beloved, he has withered like a flower at the end of its season. But the deeper plea is: don't let the intensity of my longing—the efforts of my heart—be wasted or destroyed in a foreign land of sorrow. It's a plea for mercy and a refusal to let his emotional struggle be meaningless.
