Ghazal
This ghazal expresses the pain and themes of separation and love, addressing the beloved who seems equipped only for giving pain and separation. The poet questions the beloved's sincerity, asking if the sweet words spoken were genuine or merely pretense. Ultimately, the ghazal is a poignant warning to the beloved to maintain their sincerity and devotion (wafa) in life.

Whether you keep an interest in the bow and arrow,
Or whether you are capable of love for a fragile life.
Whether you are interested in the bow and arrow, or whether you are capable of love for a fragile life.

Whether we keep our pocket shut or not,
From where have you come to give your foot to a tear?
Whether we keep our pocket sewn shut or not, from where have you come to put your foot in a tear?

Now, if I look closely, it's not that thing; / It's everything else that you used to say with your tongue.
Now, if I look closely, it's not that specific thing; it's everything else that you used to speak with your tongue.

Even the smallest strands of hair, I have seen them settle somewhere; keep your mirror of loyalty, lest you lose the whole world.
I have seen even the smallest strands settle somewhere; keep your mirror of loyalty, lest you lose the entire world.

Do not leave the sight of my heart, for this very body is my dwelling, and if you leave this place, you will surely regret it.

If you listen to my tale, sleep will keep departing,
Do not keep your eyes resting from this story.
If you listen to my tale, sleep will keep departing; do not keep your eyes resting from this story.

The eyes will open again, even if someone dies,
You do not come from my test, oh my beloved.
The eyes will open again, even if someone dies; you do not come from my test, oh my beloved.

As many you were yesterday, today you do not have; / You continue to flow, like the ever-moving stream.
As many you were yesterday, you are not today; you keep flowing, like a moving stream.

You no longer reside in that alley, 'Mir', at night;
Find some path, please, away from the guard and the leash.
