1. आ कि मिरी जान को क़रार नहीं है ताक़त-ए-बेदाद-ए-इंतिज़ार नहीं है

   معنی: Come, for my soul finds no peace; I have no strength left to endure the tyranny of waiting.

2. देते हैं जन्नत हयात-ए-दहर के बदले नश्शा ब-अंदाज़ा-ए-ख़ुमार नहीं है

   معنی: They offer Paradise in exchange for this mortal life; yet the wine's intoxication is scarcely equal to the hangover endured.

3. क़त्ल का मेरे किया है अहद तो बारे वाए अगर अहद उस्तुवार नहीं है

   معنی: At last the vow to slay me has been made; alas for me, if that promise does not hold firm!

4. तू ने क़सम मय-कशी की खाई है 'ग़ालिब' तेरी क़सम का कुछ ए'तिबार नहीं है

   معنی: You have sworn an oath to renounce wine, O Ghalib; yet no faith can ever be placed in your vow.
