1. कोई दिन गर ज़िंदगानी और है अपने जी में हम ने ठानी और है

   अर्थ: If life still has a few more days, My heart has fixed on other ways.

2. आतिश-ए-दोज़ख़ में ये गर्मी कहाँ सोज़-ए-ग़म-हा-ए-निहानी और है

   अर्थ: Where is this heat in the fire of Hell?The burning of hidden sorrows is something else entirely.

3. बार-हा देखी हैं उन की रंजिशें पर कुछ अब के सरगिरानी और है

   अर्थ: Many a time I've seen their anger's trace,But this time, their haughtiness has a different face.

4. दे के ख़त मुँह देखता है नामा-बर कुछ तो पैग़ाम-ए-ज़बानी और है

   अर्थ: Having given the letter, the messenger watches my face;Surely, there's some other verbal message too.

5. क़ाता-ए-एमार है अक्सर नुजूम वो बला-ए-आसमानी और है

   अर्थ: Stars often cut short the span of life, but that celestial doom is a different strife.

6. हो चुकीं 'ग़ालिब' बलाएँ सब तमाम एक मर्ग-ए-ना-गहानी और है

   अर्थ: All misfortunes, Ghalib, are now complete,Only a sudden death is yet to be.
