अशआर

1. प्रेम न बड़ी ऊपजै , प्रेम न हाट बिकाय। राजा-प्रजा जोहि रुचें , शीश देई ले जाय॥

   अर्थ: Love cannot be cultivated, nor can it be bought in the market. For the king and the people, whoever desires it, may take it by giving their head.

2. प्रेम प्याला जो पिये , शीश दक्षिणा देय। लोभी शीश न दे सके , नाम प्रेम का लेय॥

   अर्थ: He who drinks the cup of love, gives his head as offering. The greedy cannot give their head, even if they take the name of love.

3. सुमिरन में मन लाइए , जैसे नाद कुरंग। कहैं कबीर बिसरे नहीं , प्रान तजे तेहि संग॥

   अर्थ: Bring your mind into remembrance, like the sound of a flute. Kabir says, do not forget, even after leaving the body.

4. सुमरित सुरत जगाय कर , मुख के कछु न बोल। बाहर का पट बन्द कर , अन्दर का पट खोल॥

   अर्थ: Awaken the heart with the remembrance of the beloved, yet let the lips remain silent. Close the outer curtain, and open the inner one.

5. छीर रूप सतनाम है , नीर रूप व्यवहार। हंस रूप कोई साधु है , सत का छाननहार॥

   अर्थ: The form of pure name is milky white, the form of conduct is water. The form of a swan is a saint, who filters the truth.
