1. हमारे आगे तिरा जब किसू ने नाम लिया दिल-ए-सितम-ज़दा को हम ने थाम थाम लिया

   अर्थ: Whenever someone uttered your name before me, I held fast to this bruised, tormented heart.

2. वो कज-रविश न मिला रास्ते में मुझ से कभी न सीधी तरह से उन ने मिरा सलाम लिया

   अर्थ: That crooked walker never met me upon the path, nor ever took my greeting in a straightforward way.

3. मिरे सलीक़े से मेरी निभी मोहब्बत में तमाम उम्र मैं नाकामियों से काम लिया

   अर्थ: Through my own poise and grace, I saw love's journey through; all my life, with failures, I managed and made do.

4. अगरचे गोशा-गुज़ीं हूँ मैं शाइरों में 'मीर' प मेरे शोर ने रू-ए-ज़मीं तमाम लिया

   अर्थ: Though I dwell secluded in a quiet corner among poets, O Mir, yet the clamor of my verse has conquered the entire face of the earth.
