1. है ये तकिया तिरी अताओं पर वही इसरार है ख़ताओं पर

   अर्थ: Such is the trust I place in Your boundless grace, that I persist still in each transgression.

2. उस के कूचे में हैं वो बे-पर ओ बाल उड़ते फिरते हैं जो हवाओं पर

   अर्थ: Those who once soared high upon the winds, lie stripped of wing and plume within her lane.

3. नहीं महदूद बख़्शिशें तेरी ज़ाहिदों पर न पारसाओं पर

   अर्थ: Thy boundless grace is never held confined, neither to the ascetic nor the pious kind.

4. हक़ से दरख़्वास्त अफ़्व की 'हाली' कीजे किस मुँह से इन ख़ताओं पर

   अर्थ: With what face, O Hali, could one plead to the Almighty for pardon, burdened by such grave transgressions as these?
