1. અમુક વાતો હૃદયની બા’ર હું લાવી નથી શકતો; કંઈ અશ્રુઓ એવાં છે કે ટપકાવી નથી શકતો.

   अर्थ: Some matters of the heart, I cannot bring outside; Some tears there are, that I cannot let them slide.

2. કોઈ પણ દૃશ્યથી દિલને હું બહેલાવી નથી શકતો; હજારો રંગ છે પણ રંગમાં આવી નથી શકતો.

   अर्थ: No sight can soothe my heart's deep despair; Though countless colors exist, I can't partake their flair.

3. મુસીબત માંહે ખુદ્દારી મુસીબતની મુસીબત છે, દુઆઓ હોઠ પર છે, હાથ લંબાવી નથી શકતો.

   अर्थ: In trouble, self-respect is the trouble of troubles,Prayers are on my lips, but I cannot extend my hand.

4. જીવન હો કે મરણ હો, કોઈ હો, એને કહી દે દિલ! કે ‘ઘાયલ’ પી રહ્યો છે જાવ, એ આવી નથી શકતો.

   अर्थ: Be it life or be it death, whoever it may be, tell them, O heart! That 'Ghayal' is drinking, go, he cannot come.
