1. મિટ્ટી હતો, તે આપનો બંદો બનાવ્યો−શી રહમ! માગી ગુલામી આપની, બખ્શી મહોબત−શી રહમ!

   अर्थ: I was mere dust, yet you made me your servant—what mercy!I sought your servitude, and you bestowed love—what mercy!

2. મેંદી બનાવી આપ માટે, તે લગાવો છો મને, શાને જબરદસ્તી કરે, આ પેર ધોવાને રહમ?

   अर्थ: I made the henna for your sake, yet you apply it to me; Why, O mercy, do you compel me to wash this tradition away?

3. નીરની સાથે ચડે છે નીરનાં ખીલી ફૂલો; ના ઊતરતું નીર સાથે, નીરને છાજે રહમ.

   अर्थ: With the water, its blooming flowers ascend;With water, mercy does not descend, it truly graces the water.

4. લાખ ગુનાઓમાં છતાં છું આપનો ને આપથી; લાજે જબાં, માગું છતાં–આબાદ હોજો આ રહમ.

   अर्थ: Though lost in a million sins, I am yours, and from your hand I rise;My tongue feels shame, yet I pray—may this grace prosper 'neath your skies.
