शबनम-आश्ना

معنی

شبنم سے واقف یا شبنم شناس۔

تفصیل

یہ فارسی کے دو الفاظ 'شبنم' اور 'آشنا' (واقف/شناسا) سے مل کر بنا ہے۔ غالب کے شعر میں اس سے مراد آفتاب کا شبنم کی عاجزی اور سجدۂ شوق سے بے نیاز یا ناواقف رہنا ہے۔

اصل

Persian: 'shabnam' (dew; literally 'night-moisture') + 'āshnā' (acquainted, friend).

استعمال

Employed in the ghazal to express the contrast between an exalted, indifferent beloved (the sun) and a fleeting, self-effacing lover (the dewdrop).
