शास्त्रीय उर्दू शायरी में 'बे-तलब' का अर्थ बिना किसी याचना या माँग के कुछ प्राप्त होना है। इस शे'र में इसका प्रयोग यह दर्शाने के लिए किया गया है कि बिना माँगे मिलने वाली कृपा या दान में कहीं अधिक आनंद होता है।

व्युत्पत्ति

Persian preposition 'be' (without) prefixed to Arabic noun 'talab' (search, demand, longing).

प्रयोग

Commonly invoked in ghazals to praise the dignity (ghairat) of the lover or dervish who scorns begging from the beloved or the world.
