उर्दू शायरी में 'फ़साद' का प्रयोग उपद्रव, कलह और अशांति के अर्थ में होता है। इस शेर में 'शोर-ओ-फ़साद' के अंतर्गत यह महबूब की बदगुमानी के जवाब में हंगामा खड़ा करने के इरादे को बयान करता है। यह प्रेमी के भीतर उमड़ते आक्रोश और अशांत मनोदशा का प्रतीक है।
