उर्दू शायरी में 'तज्दीद' का अर्थ किसी भावना, अहद या स्थिति का नवीनीकरण अथवा पुनरुद्धार है। इस शे'र में 'तज्दीद-ए-तमन्ना' से आशय ख़्वाहिशों का दोबारा जीवित होना है, जहाँ पछतावे में हाथ मलना भी एक नई चाहत को जन्म देता है।

Arabic verbal noun (تَفْعِيل form) from the root j-d-d (ج-د-د), meaning 'to be new' or 'to renew'.

प्रयोग
