विस्तार

ज़मज़म मक्का की मस्जिद अल-हरम में स्थित एक पवित्र कुआँ है, जिसका जल अत्यंत पावन माना जाता है। शायरी में यह आत्मिक शुद्धि, पाप-मुक्ति और ईश्वरीय दया का प्रतीक है। प्रस्तुत शे'र में शायर अपने शराब से दाग़दार एहराम को धोने के लिए ज़मज़म पर ही रुक जाने की इच्छा जताता है।

व्युत्पत्ति

Arabic (زمزم), originally imitative of the murmuring flow or gushing sound of water, historically associated with Hagar and Ishmael.

प्रयोग

In the ghazal tradition, Zamzam is frequently paired in contrast with wine ('mai') or tears, juxtaposing ritual sanctity with the transgressions of romantic or mystic love.
