'गाहे-गहे' फ़ारसी 'गाहे-गाहे' का काव्यात्मक रूप है, जिसका अर्थ 'कभी-कभी' या 'यदा-कदा' होता है। इस शेर में यह माशूक़ की चंचलता और अनिश्चित स्वभाव को दर्शाता है, जो एक पल अपनापन दिखाता है और अगले ही पल अजनबी बन जाता है।
