प्रयोग

In ghazals, 'gumān' is often contrasted with 'यक़ीन' (certainty) to depict the lover's fragile psychological state or the ethereal nature of the beloved's features, and can also denote haughtiness or pride ('ग़ुरूर'). In this couplet, it embodies pure conjecture, indicating that the beloved's tiny mouth is so nonexistent in reality that it exists only as a thought, suspicion, or illusion in the mind of the lover. Both Persian and Urdu poets obsess over the infinitesimal smallness of the beloved's waist ('कमर') and mouth ('दहन') as abstractions rather than physical forms. (Classical Persian: gumān).
