शास्त्रीय शायरी में 'ग़म-गुसारी' का अर्थ किसी दुखी प्रेमी का दुःख बाँटना या उसे सांत्वना देना है। इस शेर में शायर अफ़सोस जताता है कि जब महबूब में आशोब-ए-ग़म झेलने का हौसला नहीं था, तो उसने ढाढ़स बँधाने की पहल क्यों की।

व्युत्पत्ति

A Persian compound formed from Arabic 'gham' (grief, affliction) and the Persian root 'gusār' (from 'gusārdan', to drink, consume, or dispel) plus the abstract noun suffix '-ī'.

प्रयोग
