1. शुऊर ओ होश ओ ख़िरद का मोआमला है अजीब मक़ाम-ए-शौक़ में हैं सब दिल ओ नज़र के रक़ीब

   अर्थ: Oh, the transaction of consciousness and awareness is strange, / In the abode of passion, all hearts and gazes are rivals.

2. मैं जानता हूँ जमाअत का हश्र क्या होगा मसाइल-ए-नज़री में उलझ गया है ख़तीब

   अर्थ: I know what the gathering will be destined for, The orator is entangled in matters of sight.

3. सुना है मैं ने सुख़न-रस है तुर्क-ए-उस्मानी सुनाए कौन उसे 'इक़बाल' का ये शेर-ए-ग़रीब

   अर्थ: I heard that the Ottoman Turkish possesses the essence of joy, Who could recite for me this unusual verse of Iqbal?

4. समझ रहे हैं वो यूरोप को हम-जवार अपना सितारे जिन के नशेमन से हैं ज़ियादा क़रीब

   अर्थ: They think themselves to be related to Europe, while we are the stars who are much closer to the abode of light.
