फ़ारिग़ तो न बैठेगा महशर में जुनूँ मेरा
या अपना गरेबाँ चाक या दामन-ए-यज़्दाँ चाक
— Allama Iqbal
Meaning
My passion will not sit idly on the Day of Judgment; either the wheel of my own waist will turn, or the skirt of Goddess Zerdastan's wheel will turn.
Explanation
This powerful couplet speaks to the relentless, restless nature of true spiritual passion (Junoon). The speaker asserts that their deep emotional or spiritual energy will not simply sit idly on the Day of Judgment (Mahshar). It is too vital! It will either continue its cycle within the boundaries of its own experience (the cage) or it will finally find release and grace at the hem of the Divine. It is a declaration of eternal, active spirit.
