Ghazal
This ghazal expresses a lover's deep yearning for their beloved's attention, playfully wishing they would respond to teasing, perhaps suggesting that intoxication might break their silence. It conveys a profound desire for the beloved's exclusive presence, embracing any hardship that might accompany such a connection.

I provoke them, yet they utter not a sound;Had they been drunk, they'd surely have been roused.
I provoke them, and they utter not a word. They would have departed if they had consumed wine.

Whether it is wrath or a calamity, whatever it may be, I wish that you were solely for me.

If my destiny contained so much sorrow, then O Lord, you should have given me many hearts.

He surely would have mended his ways, Ghalib,Had we but lived for a few more days.
O Ghalib, he would have eventually come to terms if only we had lived a few more days.
