Ghazal
This ghazal explores the paradoxical benefits of silence in concealing one's true state, leading to a profound sense of isolation where unspoken desires accumulate within the heart. It delves into the mystery of divine mercy that answers even unasked prayers, and contemplates the unthinkable notion of the beloved as an adversary, questioning such thoughts born from an abashed longing.

If silence serves to keep one's state concealed,I'm glad my words can never be revealed.
If the benefit of silence is to conceal one's state, then I am glad that understanding my words is impossible.

To whom shall I narrate this lament, this yearning to express?
My heart's the ledger, where ruby tongues keep tally of all they could be.
To whom shall I narrate this complaint of the yearning to express? My heart is the ledger of income and expenditure for ruby tongues.

Know that Kaaba's musk-dark raiment, by Ali's sacred tread,Is the earth's very navel, not a gazelle's fragrant bed.
Know that the Kaaba's musk-colored garment, by Ali's foot, is the earth's navel, not a gazelle's navel.

My wildness made the world's expanse seem small and bound,Dariya zameen ko araq-e-infia'al hai
My wildness made the expanse of the world feel constrained. The river is the earth's sweat of shame.

Asad, into existence's deceit, don't ever fall,The entire world's a snare, imagination's thrall.
Asad, do not fall into the deceit of existence. The entire world is merely a circle, a snare of imagination.

O Asad, do not turn away from sorrow and deep despair;Dedicate your heart to pain, for it's the mendicant's sole treasure there.
O Asad, do not avoid sorrow and deep despair. Dedicate your heart to pain, for it is the wealth of mendicants.
