વર્ષો જવાને જોઈએ ત્યાં ક્ષણમાં જઈ ચડ્યો,
આશ્ચર્ય વચ્ચે એમના આંગણ જઈ ચડ્યો!

પૂછો નહીં કે આજ તો ક્યાં નીકળી ગયો,
કાજળને સ્પર્શવા જતા કામણમાં જઈ ચડ્યો!

અંધારમુક્ત થઈ ન શક્યો રોશની મહીં,

મનફાવે તેમ આભમાં ફંગોળતી રહી,
હું ક્યાંય નહિ ને ગેબની ગોફણમાં જઈ ચડ્યો.

કૈં ચાંદની જ એવી હતી, ભાન ના રહ્યું;

ન્હોતી ખબર જવાય નહીં એમ સ્વર્ગમાં;
પ્હેર્યું હતું હું એ જ પહેરણમાં જ ચડ્યો!
I did not know one cannot go to heaven like that;
I ascended in the very same attire I was wearing!
